Ben and Helena: The Ring in the Backpack and the Perfect Spot in New Zealand

Five Years, Countless Games, and a Very Sore Loser

Some love stories begin with a grand gesture. Others begin with five years of board games, adventures, and one person consistently refusing to let the other win.

Ben and Helena have been together for five years. By his own admission, Helena takes competition far too seriously for his liking. She beats him at games. She probably always will. And somewhere along the way, he decided she was exactly the person he wanted to spend the rest of his life losing to.

Her Favourite Place in the World

Helena had trained as a pilot in New Zealand years before they met, and the country had stayed with her ever since. She had always wanted to show Ben around the landscapes, the coastline, the places that had shaped that chapter of her life. So when Ben started thinking about proposing, the answer was obvious. It had to be New Zealand.

The Ring in the Backpack

The Perfect Spot
