Some love stories begin with a perfectly orchestrated meeting. Henry and Victoria's began with ABBA bingo, an early arrival, and the very good luck that Victoria happened to recognise the person alone in the queue.
How They Met
Henry had moved to Plymouth in July 2023 to work at the hospital. Victoria was a student there, also starting work that summer. A group of new starters were heading to an event - ABBA bingo, where the music plays and when you get bingo you have to shout money, money, money. Henry had agreed to go along but arrived a little early and found himself alone in the queue.
Victoria recognised him and invited him to join her group of friends.
ABBA music, good company, and a great night followed. The rest, as they say, is history.
Why Victoria
Henry cannot put a single date on when he knew Victoria was the person he wanted to spend the rest of his life with. It was not one moment. It was a culmination of things.
Victoria and I have helped each other develop, and I honestly feel that I have become, and continue to improve as a person due to her being in my life. I love days out, or just lying on the sofa next to her, and I keep wanting to see what will come next.
That last line is the one that stays with us. I keep wanting to see what will come next. That is what a great relationship is, really.
The Ring
Victoria had been helpfully specific whenever they walked past jewellery shops - Henry had been quietly gathering intelligence for some time. He knew what he wanted: a green gemstone, a platinum band, a personalised engraving, and a shape he had in his head but could not quite find anywhere.
He looked in a lot of places. Nothing was quite right.
Then he found Ethica and spoke to Laura.
From the first call where she helped put what I wanted into a fully formed idea, I felt that Ethica was the right way.
Laura took Henry's brief - the green stone, the platinum, the engraving, the shape in his head - and turned it into something real. A bespoke commission, made specifically for Victoria, that existed nowhere else.
Henry is delighted with it. Victoria is delighted with it. And the engraving inside is just for them.
