Machine Gun Kelly and Megan Fox have had one of the wildest and most intense celebrity love stories of our era. As you can imagine, they have an engagement ring to match. When the pair got engaged under their special banyan tree back in early 2022, it was clear that Machine Gun Kelly hadn’t just picked any old ring from a catalogue. Read on to find out everything you need to know about this unique piece, estimated to be worth up to a whopping £400,000.

Ring Inspiration
Machine Gun Kelly designed the ring with the renowned British jewellery designer Stephen Webster. He was drawn to the handcrafted style of Webster’s older collections, particularly one from 2013 called the seven deadly sins. This combination of craftsmanship and storytelling with a darker twist inspired the groom to be, but he also wanted the design to be deeply personal to their relationship.
Stephen Webster noted that the goal was to create something completely connected to the couple. By extracting personal details, they decided to represent their connection through their two birthstones.

Ring Design
The brief was to incorporate their birthstones with a vibe similar to the Seven Deadly Sins collection. Webster created something totally new: two thorn shaped bands that fit together with hidden magnets. Each band features a pear shaped centre stone, which together form two halves of an abstract heart. Machine Gun Kelly described the stones as representing "two halves of one soul."
This piece launched the Thorn Embrace Collection. The unique thorn shape of the bands caused plenty of conversation online, specifically regarding the "love is pain" metaphor mentioned by the couple. While rumours suggested the ring might be difficult to remove, it is likely just an edgy metaphor.

The Ring Setting
In simple terms, the ring is a Toi et Moi style. This is French for "You and Me," a fitting title for a design where two lovers are represented by two gemstones sitting side by side. It symbolises partnership and devotion, with each stone representing a person in the relationship.
The setting is 18ct white gold with diamond pave shoulders and a hidden halo. Shoulder set rings have become increasingly popular as a way to add extra sparkle to a solitaire without being overpowering.

The Stones
The most striking element is the pair of perfectly matched pear shaped gems. The diamond is a D colour antique cut and the emerald is an extraordinary untreated Colombian gem. We estimate each of these stones to be around 3.0 carats.
The pear shape is also known as a tear drop, combining the fullness of a round brilliant with the intensity of a marquise. Much like an oval cut, pears are elongating and very flattering on the finger. The contrast between the emerald and diamond creates a beautiful look, similar to those seen on celebrities like Halle Berry and Victoria Beckham.
Recent Updates
As of February 2023, there has been much talk about the status of the couple after Megan unfollowed her partner and shared some cryptic posts online. It goes to show that even an incredible ring worth hundreds of thousands of pounds isn’t always the key to a simple relationship. Regardless of the rumours, there is no denying that the craftsmanship behind this piece is remarkable.
